I'm a resident teacher for the Ordinary Mind Zen group in Austin, a group based on Joko Beck's model contemporary Zen practice. I am also the mother of a son, Ben, a new media artist and software developer who lives in Chicago.
In my work, I am the Director of the Undergraduate Writing Center at the University of Texas, and a professor in the Department of Rhetoric and Writing there. I teach graduate and undergraduate courses such as Nonviolent Rhetoric, Information Architecture, Virtual Worlds, Zen Rhetoric, Knowledge Ecologies, Research Methods in Online Environments, and Minds, Texts, and Technology.
